Myofunctional Therapy for Children, Teens, and Adults

Children who breathe through their mouths, have a tongue thrust, snore, grind their teeth, or have been told they’ll “grow out of it” are often the best candidates for early intervention. We also support children before or after tongue tie procedures and those working alongside orthodontic treatment.

For Children & Teens

    • Mouth breathing, especially during sleep

    • Snoring, restless sleep, or waking up tired

    • Teeth grinding or clenching (bruxism)

    • Teeth shifting after braces or retainer use

    • Tongue pushing against or between the teeth when swallowing

    • Prolonged thumb sucking or pacifier habits

    • Difficulty chewing or a preference for soft foods

    • Speech concerns, including a lisp or unclear articulation

    • Chronic stuffy nose or frequent mouth breathing during the day

    • Posture changes (such as forward head position or open mouth posture)

    • Hyperactivity, difficulty focusing, or behavioral concerns (especially alongside sleep issues)

    • Slow eating or difficulty managing food while chewing

For Adults

Sleep-disordered breathing, snoring, chronic jaw tension, and unexplained orthodontic relapse are common concerns in adults. Myofunctional therapy focuses on improving underlying muscle patterns that may contribute to these concerns and support more balanced function and long-term stability.

    • Snoring or being told you stop breathing during sleep

    • Diagnosed or suspected sleep apnea

    • Waking up tired even after a full night of sleep

    • Chronic jaw tension, clenching, or jaw discomfort

    • Teeth that have shifted after orthodontic treatment

    • Dry mouth, chapped lips, or waking with a dry throat

    • Tongue thrust habits noticed by a dentist or orthodontist

    • Difficulty swallowing certain foods or textures.

    • Low tongue posture or a scalloped tongue

    • Mouth breathing

    • Headaches or neck tension related to jaw or airway patterns

“Miranda was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and attentive…”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Miranda Allen! She recently completed a myofunctional assessment for my daughter, Olivia, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Miranda was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and attentive, taking the time to explain everything in a way that was both clear and reassuring.

What truly stood out was how comfortable she made Olivia feel throughout the entire process. She was patient, kind, and engaging, which made what could have felt intimidating actually feel easy and positive. Her attention to detail and comprehensive approach gave me so much confidence that we are in the best hands.

If you are considering myofunctional therapy for your child, I wholeheartedly recommend Miranda. She is professional, compassionate, and clearly passionate about what she does. We are so grateful for her expertise and care!”
