Myofunctional Therapy Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
-
Myofunctional therapy is like physical therapy for your mouth and face. It’s a personalized program designed to retrain and strengthen the muscles of your lips, tongue, cheeks, and face through simple, targeted exercises and habit-changing techniques. It focuses on improving the way you breathe, position your tongue, and swallow. It helps correct oral habits that can influence sleep quality, speech clarity, facial growth, and overall wellness.
-
You may be a great candidate if you:
Snore at night
Breathe through your mouth during the day or night
Often have an open mouth posture
Have been diagnosed with sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing
Experience jaw pain or TMJ discomfort
Have a tongue tie
Clench or grind your teeth
Have enlarged tonsils or adenoids, or have had them removed
Struggle with allergies or asthma
Had braces but notice your teeth shifting back
You don’t need to experience all of these issues to benefit from myofunctional therapy. Even just one of these signs is reason enough to contact Georgia Myo Solutions for personalized support.
-
Every age is the right age to start improving the way you breathe, swallow, and rest your tongue. Addressing these patterns early can prevent future issues, but even adults can see meaningful results. At Georgia Myo Solutions, we work with clients ages 5 and up.

Yes, we can help! Extended thumb sucking or pacifier use can influence how your child’s teeth and face grow. Our therapy programs use fun, age-appropriate activities to help your child stop the habit while teaching healthy oral patterns that support long term growth and development.
Adults
-
Jaw pain and clenching often happen because the muscles of the mouth and face aren’t working in balance. Myofunctional therapy helps retrain those muscles to relax and function in harmony, which can help reduce tension, support comfort in the jaw area, and promote more balanced muscle function.
-
Myofunctional therapy can help improve breathing and support better sleep. By strengthening and retraining the tongue and airway muscles, therapy promotes healthier breathing patterns and may help reduce snoring. It also complements other treatments like CPAP or oral appliances, as part of a collaborative care approach.
-
When teeth shift after orthodontic treatment, it is often related to oral habits or tongue posture. Myofunctional therapy helps these underlying patterns by teaching the tongue and facial muscles to rest and function properly, which supports long-term stability after braces

We are a fee-for-service practice. Most insurance plans do not cover standalone orofacial myofunctional therapy. To keep care accessible, we offer competitive pricing and a pay-as-you-go option rather than requiring full payment upfront.
If cost is a concern, please reach out. We’re committed to helping families access the care they need whenever possible.
-
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer your appointment time to another patient who may be waiting.
Payments
